Why career is what people ask first
In living Jyotish, work is often the first question, even before marriage. When will I get a job, will I keep this work, should I change field, is this the year for a move: those are the searches. A sun-sign career horoscope cannot answer them. A janam kundli can speak to the shape of work. The tenth house is the public work, the reputation, the craft that can be seen. Its lord, wherever it sits, tells you where that effort is trying to go. Saturn often has a say, because work is time and labour. The second house is income. The sixth is service and competition. The eleventh is gains. None of those replace the tenth. They colour it.
Dasha is when work turns
A strong tenth house in a quiet dasha can sit still. A modest tenth in a dasha of its lord, or of a graha occupying it, can move. That is why people feel a career change when a mahadasha turns, and why a job question without timing is only half a question. Jupiter periods can open study, teaching, or a wider field. Saturn periods can ask for apprenticeship, a title that arrives late, or a duty you did not pick. Rahu can pull toward the unusual, the foreign, the technical, the thing that is not the family trade. Mars can heat ambition. Venus can tie work to taste, beauty, or other people. The natal map decides whether those stories are kind.
The tenth house is not a job title
A chart does not usually provide one exact job title. It can show whether work is public or private, independent or organisational, practical or intellectual, service-based, technical, creative, or connected with other people's resources. The lagna and Sun describe capacity and confidence in public life, while the Moon helps show whether the work feels sustainable. Two people with Saturn in the tenth can have different careers because Saturn rules different houses and receives different influences in each chart.
Ask from the chart you were born with
A career reading checks the tenth house and its lord, the second, sixth, and eleventh houses, the Sun, Saturn, relevant skills shown elsewhere in the chart, and the current dasha and transits. It can explain whether the period supports building experience, waiting, changing direction, or becoming more visible, but it cannot guarantee a job date. Bring your date, exact time, and place of birth, then ask about the work decision or career period you want to understand.
