What is a dasha?

Mahadasha is not a verdict
A Saturn dasha is not a curse. A Jupiter dasha is not a prize. Results depend on where that graha sits in your kundli, what it rules from your lagna, and the house it occupies. A well-placed Saturn can deliver through labour. A troubled Jupiter can inflate a hope that does not land. Sub-periods colour the chapter: Saturn-Moon is not Saturn-Mars.
